The Knott Ranch Cattle

Our cattle are born and raised near the headwaters of Trout Creek and neighboring drainages in northwestern Colorado. The cattle graze on mountain meadows and pastures throughout the growing season on the Knott Ranch. The calves are born in April and May and are raised by their mothers until late fall when they are weaned and fed the native grass hay produced on the ranch.

Our cattle are primarily  Hereford and Angus crossbred, creating what is colloquially known as a black baldy. We select for growth, docility, structural correctness, fleshing ability, and good marbling. We value calm cattle and breed for low pulmonary arterial pressure (PAP) to ensure they can thrive at our elevation.

Nutrition

Abundant with many vitamins and minerals, beef is especially high in zinc and iron as well as B vitamins.

Considered a Super Food, beef contains important nutrients that help support antioxidant production, thyroid health and even contribute to your sense of taste and smell! These nutrients also strengthen the immune and nervous systems while contributing to muscle tissue.

Rich in essential nutrients, even processed meat products like sausage and hot dogs are packed with vitamin B12, iron and zinc in addition to other vitamins and minerals.
